Top 30 Prospects

Welcome to my Top 30 Prospects list! Many lists you see out there are 50 to 100 players long, but when it comes down to draft time and making important decisions, I’ve found that having a shorter more focused list is more effective. By keeping my list at no more than 30 players, I force myself to focus on players who have a better chance of making an impact this season.

This is my first revision since Spring Training and significant adjustments have been made, mostly because a handful of players have graduated from the list. Among them are: Jacoby Ellsbury, Clay Buchholz, Manny Parra, Geovany Soto, Carlos Gomez, Daric Barton, Joey Votto, and Franklin Morales. A couple players who are inches
away from joining them are: Johnny Cueto, Joba Chamberlain, Wladimir Balentien, and J.R. Towles. Some players such as Towles fell off the list in this revision…I have no problem admitting I was insanely off regarding the value of Towles this season. The list is built by taking into consideration the ceiling of a player, their likelihood of reaching that ceiling, and how long it may take them to reach it.
